Plug-In Filters for PSP
and Photoshop
-
the image above was creating using the Almathera Plug-In
PSP
7 and 8 come with a nice batch of built-in filters, but i find
them quite limiting in
effect. Plug-in filters are available that will have you
experimenting for hours on your images.
You can even come up with effects accidentally that you'll use
frequently on your graphics.
Learn the filter capabilities within PSP first - then go out and
try some new stuff.
These
links will take you to the download site for more information.
There will
also be filters listed at these sites that require a fee, or are
available for download
as a demo for a specified time, before you're required to
purchase it to keep it.
Most
plug-ins and filters are designed for Photoshop,
and most are compatible with Paint Shop Pro7 and 8
Please
be aware that plug in sites either change the pages their info
is on or disappear from
the web completely - we have no resources to continually check
the validity of the site links,
so it's best that if you find a broken link, you type in a
search on the web for the filter's name
What
you need to know:
You must be
running Windows 95 and
at least PSP 4.0 for the filters to work
Filters
compatible with PaintShop Pro need to be in .8BF file
format. Several sites offer
filters in a different file format. If you really want to use
these filters, you will need the Plug-in Commander to convert
these filters for use in PSP. Click
here for information on this tool. Before you install
plug-in filters, you will need to download and extract the
MSVCRT10.DLL to your Windows System file. Some
filters will also the file PLUGIN.DLLfile - you
can download these
below. Then you should have no problem using all filters
available for use in PSP.
MSVCRT10.DLL
dll-plugin
file
Also
download this .dll file
Once
downloaded, unzip
into the C:\Windows\System directory
Then
download all filters you find and think you would like to play
with in your PSP
Plug-Ins folder. Click on the links below for details on the
effects you can achieve with
each filter. Word of caution - they're so cool you might
download way more filters than
you'll ever use. Out of the hundreds of filters i have, I
probably use about a dozen
regularly. And don't buy any offered for sale until you've
checked all the links out -
sometimes you'll get a similar effect in a free download of
another plug-in product
These
are some i use and like, some i hope i find the time to
use eventually. If some
of the links don't work, they are no longer available or changed
their website address
